Verify a claim against its source
I can verify an AI-generated claim against its original source before using it.
Information and sources
What this means
Pick one checkable claim from the answer, open a suitable original source yourself, find the relevant passage, and judge whether it supports the claim fully, partly, or not at all.
Why this matters
A citation supplied by AI does not prove a claim. The wording in the original source is what tells you whether the claim is supported.
How to recognize this skill
- 01State precisely which claim you are checking.
- 02Open a suitable original source yourself instead of relying on AI’s citation or a search-result summary.
- 03Classify the claim as supported, partly supported, contradicted, or unverified based on the source.
- 04Record what remains uncertain and decide whether to use, clarify, or reject the claim.
This does not yet demonstrate the skill
- Seeing a citation from AI without opening the source.
- Reading a guide about evaluating sources.
