The job advert is open, but your CV is going nowhere
You know what you did in previous jobs, but struggle to put it into CV bullet points. AI can help here: it turns a scattered list of tasks into readable bullet points tailored to the role. This time you will use a fictional work history to learn the method before using your own information.
Your goal for this session
Turn a fictional work history into four CV bullet points, ask for a shorter version, and learn what you still need to check yourself before any of it goes into a real application.
Try it for the first time in about ten minutes
- 1
Open the AI assistant you use
The exercise uses entirely fictional information, so you can try it with any AI assistant you use.
- 2
Copy the request below exactly as it is
The request already includes a fictional work history and target role, so you do not need to invent anything else for this exercise.
- 3
Read the bullet points critically
Check whether each bullet point actually reflects your experience and sounds like you.
- 4
Ask for one specific improvement
Continue in the same conversation and ask for shorter bullet points, as in the next example.
Copy this for your first attempt
Turn these fictional duties into CV bullet points for a job application. I worked for three years as a waiter and shift supervisor at the Kultainen Lohi lunch restaurant. My duties included taking orders and serving customers during busy periods, training two new waiters, balancing the daily till, and planning shifts for a team of eight. I also reduced food waste by changing how the daily lunch was put together. I am now applying for a customer service team leader position at Kotiväylä Oy, which delivers groceries to homes. Write four CV bullet points that start with a strong verb and suit a customer service and team leadership role. Do not invent figures or achievements I have not mentioned. If a bullet point needs a more precise figure, mark it as a question in square brackets rather than guessing.
Continue in the same conversation with this
Keep all the facts unchanged, but make the bullet points shorter: no more than 15 words each. Focus one bullet point specifically on customer service, because that is the most important requirement in Kotiväylä’s advert.
Use the same approach for cover letters and reading job adverts
CV bullet points, cover letter openings and job advert keywords all follow the same principle: give AI real source material and clear boundaries, rather than asking it to invent content for you.
Write the opening paragraph of a cover letter
Write the opening paragraph of my cover letter in no more than four sentences. Job advert: 'Vihreä Piha Oy is looking for a summer employee for gardening work in Espoo. Duties include caring for plants, watering and helping customers in the shop. We value initiative and previous customer service experience.' I have worked for two summers as a florist’s sales assistant, serving customers and watering and caring for flowers. Explain in the opening paragraph why I am applying for this particular job, using only the information I have given you. Do not claim that I have gardening qualifications or other experience I have not mentioned.

Extract keywords from the advert
Read this job advert and list the five most important skills or requirements that should appear in an applicant’s CV. Advert: 'We are looking for someone in customer support to respond to customer enquiries by email and chat, log issues in the support system, and explain technical matters clearly. Customer service experience and the ability to stay calm under pressure are an advantage.' Rank the requirements by importance based on the wording of the advert, and do not add requirements it does not mention.

Check the text before sending it on
- Is every bullet point, figure and job title based on things you have actually done, and does the wording avoid sounding too generic or wordy?
- Could you explain every line of your CV in more detail in an interview?
- Is there anything you still need to check against an original employment certificate or your own notes?
Turn a vague wish into a request you can check
A common request:
Write me a good CV.
Try asking this instead:
Turn these fictional duties into CV bullet points for an office assistant application: a year and a half in library customer service, where I handled loans and returns, shelved incoming material, recorded event registrations in the booking system, and trained two summer employees in customer service. Start each bullet point with a strong verb, do not invent figures or achievements I have not mentioned, and mark missing information as questions in square brackets.
The target role, source material, format and honesty boundary turn a vague wish into a request you can check.
Once you know the basics
Once you have saved one comprehensive version of your work history, ask AI to select different bullet points for each application: 'Choose the three duties that best match this advert, without changing their content.' You can then reuse the same checked source for every application without rewriting your CV from scratch.

Extract and check the facts before turning them into text
Write your own request or answer first. The hint and checking criteria become available only after you make an attempt or choose "I don’t know yet". Use only the supplied material in every round.
Use only the supplied material in this exercise, rather than your own work history. Your answers are visible only in this browser tab and are not saved on the AI Licenses server.
Question 1/3
Question 1/3
Imagine you want AI to extract three key facts from the material above for a short introduction. Write a request to choose facts that together explain how sound travels and what determines its speed. Require use of only this material, no invented facts, and an explicit statement if it cannot support three facts.

Turn an experience into an interview answer you can remember
Practise the STAR method: situation, task, action and result. AI helps with the structure, but the content comes from the fictional experience you provide.

How the request is built
- Task
- Structure the experience as a STAR answer
- Material
- A fictional warehouse situation involving a system crash
- Format
- Four parts: situation, task, action and result, in under 120 words
- Boundary
- Do not invent additional details
Describe a time when I solved a problem independently at work. Fictional situation: I was working in a warehouse when the ordering system crashed during a busy morning. I manually checked the ten most urgent orders on paper and texted customers about the expected delay. The system was fixed two hours later, and no orders were late. Structure this as an interview answer using STAR: situation, task, action and result. Keep the answer under 120 words, use only the information provided, and do not invent additional details.

Copy the request first. ChatGPT opens in a new tab, and this exercise will be waiting here for you.
Use only fictional experience: This exercise uses an invented situation. In a real interview, talk only about events that actually happened: the interviewer may ask for more details.
