When you ask AI to make a summary, message or list from your own material, the result often sounds finished. It may also include a time, name or decision that was not in the material, or fill in missing information with a guess. When you limit the request and check the output line by line, it stays grounded in the material and missing information remains visible.
Four steps
- 1
Limit the output to the material
Write in your request: use only the material I provide. If information is missing, mark it as open and do not fill it in.
- 2
Trace each line
Review the output line by line and find a place in the material for each detail.
- 3
Mark additions
Any detail you cannot find is an addition. Remove it or mark it for checking.
- 4
Keep gaps visible
If the material is missing an author, time or decision, write it as a question. Do not fill it in with a guess.
How to spot additions
- Specific details you did not provide: a time, price, amount or name.
- Decisions that were still open: “agreed”, “has been ordered”, “will handle”.
- Reasons and consequences the material does not explain: “because”, “so that”, “therefore”.
The same approach works when you write a status update, summarise study material or turn notes into a message.
