Look for pressure such as urgency, secrecy, or a request for money, credentials, or confidential information. Pause the action and contact the sender using a channel whose contact details you find yourself.

Why this matters

AI can imitate a familiar voice, image or writing style. Choosing another channel yourself helps verify the request without relying only on a suspicious message.
